Thank you for visiting the Letter To My Child web site.

Dating violence is a reality for many youth, yet an issue still unknown to many parents.

This site was created to encourage parents to send a letter to their child opening up the conversation regarding healthy relationships and defining unhealthy behaviors. The program’s aim is to educate parents about the role they play in preventing dating violence from happening to their teen while also teaching teens about the signs of dating violence and their options. Our goal is to reset the expectations, norms and behaviors of young men and women, ultimately keeping our teens safer, happier and healthier. And now is the time. Teen dating violence awareness and prevention needs to be a year-round education initiative, and select observances -- National Teen Dating Violence Awareness & Prevention Month (February), National Sexual Violence Awareness Month (April), National Domestic Violence Awareness Month (October) -- can serve to draw attention to this scourge on our society.

In addition to giving the letter to their child, we propose parents send a copy of their letter to lettertomychild@hotmail.com to be posted on this website as well as to be used in future publications in an effort to further the reach of this powerful campaign. Teens are encouraged to submit personalized pledges and sign the sample Pledge to Myself by leaving a comment.

Thank you for visiting and we hope you take the time to write a letter to your son or daughter.

*Parents please specify in your e-mail if you would like your letter posted on this web site and if we may use your letters for media relations and Op/Eds purposes.
